The inaugural Irish Times Business Awards will take place at the Mansion House in Dublin on May 9th  with the highlight of the night being The Irish Times Business Person of the Year Award.

The winner will be drawn from the winners of the Irish Times Business Person of the Month Awards which were launched in May 2017.

The Awards, which are being run in association with KPMG, are open to Irish business leaders both at home and abroad, as well as international executives leading major companies in Ireland.

Some of the other Awards that will be handed out on the night include The Top 1,000 Lifetime Achievement Award, Company of the Year 2018, Chief Financial Officer of the Year 2018 and Deal of the Year 2018.

According to Liam Kavanagh, Managing Director of The Irish Times the Awards have been received very positively in the Irish business community since they were announced last year and the cream of the Irish business world will be in attendance on the night.

“To date we’ve had eight winners of the Business Person of the Month Awards and the calibre and diversity of the winners together with their record of achievement has been outstanding. Their successes provide further evidence of an economy in strong recovery mode. The Awards night promises to be a memorable evening and it will be very interesting to see whom our independent panel of judges will choose as the first ever winner of The Irish Times Business Person of the Year Award.”

Shaun Murphy, Managing Partner, KPMG, say the Awards promote great examples of Irish enterprise and would encourage others to build, grow and transform their businesses.

“It has been fascinating to study the drivers of success in the winners. Their geographical spread, the wide range of sectors they are involved in, the innovation, drive and determination which they have displayed – all these factors will contribute to what I’m sure will culminate in an exceptional awards event in May.”

Ciaran Hancock, Business Editor of The Irish Times and Chair of the judging panel said the Awards recognised the accomplishments of Ireland’s standout business leaders over the last twelve months.

“This event will bring together business leaders and senior figures from across Ireland to recognise excellence and achievement across a range of categories. We are thoroughly enjoying our engagement with the wider business community through this initiative and looking forward to meeting many of them on May 9th.”

As with the monthly award winner the overall winner of the Business Person of the Year Award will be selected by The Irish Times’ team of business journalists.
