Ireland v Sweden Clocks up 1.08m Viewers

rte2As the Republic of Ireland gets ready to play Belgium tomorrow in the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, an average of 1.08m viewers watched Group E opener between the Republic of Ireland and Sweden on RTÉ, making it the highest-rating TV programme of the year.

Additionally, there were 131,950 live streams for the match on RTÉ Player, which includes 650 streams of the Irish Language Commentary version. This was also the most-watched live event on the RTÉ Player this year.

The Republic of Ireland’s remaining two group games, against Belgium on Saturday and versus Italy next Wednesday 22 June will be exclusively live on RTÉ2 television, streamed live on RTÉ Player and will have full live commentary on RTÉ Radio 1.
