The Irish Times Launches ‘Summer of Family’ Initiative

The Irish Times  has launched a new cross-platform content initiative called ‘Summer of Family’ which will focus firmly on all things ‘family’ across print, digital and experiential for the summer months and is targeted at its established audience of 284,000 parents.

Running from mid-May to August 2019, this initiative puts family at the heart of everything from inclusion in the summer ‘Food and Drink Guide’, a family-themed Saturday Magazine on June 1st to dynamic family-focused content online as well  as competitions and a series of parenting events.

The series has kicked off  with a “Guide to 2019 Summer Camps in Ireland” sponsored by Sports Surgery Clinic, Santry, a bespoke, searchable feature – which is also available in print- to help parents navigate the plethora of camps for their offspring.

Leading writers, including child psychologist and columnist John Sharry and Sheila Wayman, Jen Hogan, Damian Cullen and Róisín Ingle will contribute to the series throughout the Summer.

Towards the end of May and beyond, the family focus pivots towards food with a ‘Food and Drink’ glossy publication which will focus on the top 100 places to eat in Ireland, including the go-to destinations for families. Lisa Cope, owner of the popular ‘All The Food’ website will cover where to take the family out to eat. Other family-friendly topics include summer berry season and cooking al fresco.

With family as the backdrop across the summer, the initiative will afford brand partners an exciting opportunity to engage with this cohort in a meaningful way via content partnerships, experiential elements, sponsorship and data-led audience targeting.
