Hanway to Replace Ternsjo at Virgin Media

IMG_2206Virgin Media has announced that Tony Hanway has been appointed as CEO of its operations in Ireland, replacing Magnus Ternsjo who this week announced that he was moving to UPC in Hungary, which is also part of the Liberty Global group of companies.

Hanway is no stranger to Ireland having held a number of roles with Telefonica across Europe, including CEO of O2 in Ireland, consumer director of O2 in the Czech Republic and, latterly, chief commercial officer of O2 in Germany. Prior to joining O2, he held senior roles at AOL Europe including managing director AOL Europe Operations and vice president AOL UK. He was also chairman of the Irish Telecom and Internet Federation between 2013 and 2014.

“I am deeply honoured to be joining the Virgin Media team. These are truly exciting times for our business in Ireland and I look forward to playing my part in delivering a great experience for our customers. At Virgin Media, we’re investing in the future:  for our business, for consumers and for Ireland,” says Hanway.
