NNI Appoints Vincent Crowley as Chairman

The National Newspapers of Ireland (NNI) has appointed Vincent Crowley as its new chairman. He succeeds Matt Dempsey, the chairman of the Irish Farmers Journal.

Crowley has held a variety of senior roles at Independent News & Media (IN&M), most recently that of Group Chief Executive Officer. His replacement at IN&M is expected to be announced shortly.

Commenting on his appointment, Crowley says “as the rapid evolution of the news media industry continues, so too do the challenges. I look forward to working with my NNI colleagues to meet these challenges to ensure the Irish newspaper industry, which employs thousands of people and remains strong and viable. I would like to also thank my predecessor, Matt Dempsey for his commitment to NNI and his effective leadership during a time of significant change.

Crowley joins as chairman, weeks after the NNI announced that it had appointed Dara McMahon as coordinating director following the recent retirement of Frank Cullen.
