A total of 827 people packed into the Doubletree Hotel in Dublin for the annual Media Awards which were held last night.
Sponsored by RTÉ Media Sales, Associated Newspapers, the Sunday Business Post, IrishMirror.ie and Media Central, the awards attracted a record number of entries this year and have established themselves as one of the highlights of the annual media and advertising calendar.
The big winners on the night were Mindshare, which won the Grand Prix; OMD which picked up Media Agency of the Year and Core Media which won the Network of the Year.
But it was also a good night for many other agencies and media brands while this year’s Media Pioneer Award went to Padraig Moran, the founder of Core Media and the person who was instrumental in the development of brands like Starcom, MediaVest, Publicis Dublin, Clear Blue Water and Pembroke Communications.
It was also a good night for the Core agency MediaVest which bagged 14 awards on the night. This included four Gold Awards, one of which went to Aoibhin Lennon who was named as this year’s Rising Star. Sister agency Mediaworks, meanwhile, won three Gold and one Silver Awards.
Elsewhere PML Group picked up the Sales Team of the Year Award while Exterion Media won Media Brand of the Year.
Other agencies to bring home Gold Awards included Carat which picked up two Gold and four Silver Awards and PHD which also won two Gold.
