Aldi Extends Rugby Sponsorship for Four Years

The retailer Aldi has opted to extend its partnership with the IRFU in a new four-year deal.

As part of the partnership, Aldi will continue its commitment to the successful Aldi Play Rugby programme, a national initiative for primary school children which has seen an investment of €1.2m over the last 12 months.

Aldi first partnered with the IRFU back in 2016 and since then the number of schools participating in the initiative has grown to 1,2000 with over 109,000 children benefitting from it.

According to Giles Hurley, CEO for Aldi UK & Ireland: “Our long-term partnership with the IRFU has been a huge success for everyone involved.  Aldi Play Rugby has made a massive impact in schools across the country, encouraging thousands of children to get active and lead a healthier lifestyle. Working hand in hand with the IRFU we look forward making the programme available to even more children over the next four years, as well as adding to the €1.2m investment in primary schools during this time.”
