Ivan Yates to Anchor Drivetime Slot on Newstalk

Newstalk has announced that Ivan Yates will take over the evening drivetime show on Newstalk from September 4th, replacing Chris Donoghue and Sarah McInerney.

Yates, a former government minister, has been anchoring a two hour Sunday morning slot at the station since April.

According to Patricia Monahan, managing editor of the station, he will “bring his own unique style to the three hour opinion-led programme, covering everything from current affairs and politics, to sport and business from 4pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday.”

“Ivan Yates is one of Ireland’s foremost commentators and has a long history with the station. His brand of straight talking, opinion led commentary will provide an engaging forum for listeners. This is an exciting time for the business as we continue to develop a brand of opinion led content.”

Ms Monahan added: “We are currently in discussions with both Chris Donoghue and Sarah McInerney about alternative roles within the Communicorp Group.”
