Gavin Downes joins Clive’s Dublin Team as Head of Strategy

Clive has appointed Gavin Downes to the role of Head of Strategy, based in its Dublin office. Downes has over 15 years’ experience across both B2B and B2C in a mix of client and agency side roles, covering the UK & Ireland, Western Europe & Australia. He has worked with a number of high-profile global brands including Heineken, Vodafone, Three, Nokia, Telefonica O2, and Just Eat.

According to Sean Doyle, Director of Brand & Creative at Clive: “We’re delighted to have Gavin join the team. He has a wealth of knowledge in experiential marketing across large corporate events, consumer activations, sponsorships, employee engagement and brand experience strategy, while working with some of the biggest consumer brands in the world. Dublin is a key location for Clive as we grow, and we are looking forward to continuing to deliver truly creative, memorable and impactful experiential live events for our clients across the EMEA region and beyond.”

Although born in Ireland, Downes has lived and worked in the US, Indonesia, UK and Australia. He will be leading the Strategy & Business Development function for the Clive Ireland team as it grows key accounts on both the domestic and global stage with the likes of Indeed, Slack, Irish Life, Facebook, Accenture, Visa, Pinterest and Dell Technologies.

As well as his experience working with leading global brands, Downes has also lectured to Marketing Masters Students in the Smurfit Business School, contributed to various marketing and business publications, and is a founding member of the Experiential Marketing Ireland network.

Clive has an annual turnover in excess of  €14m and employs 55 full time staff across its Dublin, London and New York offices. The company is part of FIRST | Global Events Agency which also has  offices in London, New York, Los Angeles and Singapore.
