Viking Stars Help Tourism Ireland Promote Ancient East

To mark the launch of the latest season of the hit TV series Vikings, Tourism Ireland has launched a brand new online video campaign featuring two of the show’s leading stars this week. Georgia Hirst (who plays Torvi) and Jordan Patrick Smith (who plays Ubbe), bring fans on a virtual tour of some of their favourite places to visit in Ireland’s Ancient East and Dublin.

The two online films are being rolled out on Instagram and Facebook in over ten markets around the globe and have been designed to inspire fans of Vikings to come and discover Ireland’s Ancient East and Dublin for themselves.

In the films, viewers see Georgia Hirst and Jordan Patrick Smith travel to Wicklow, visiting places like Powerscourt Estate, Luggala Mountain and Brittas Bay Beach. They also highlight some of their favourite places to visit in Dublin – including Dalkey, Temple Bar and Christ Church Cathedral.

“Tourism Ireland is delighted to team up with Georgia Hirst and Jordan Patrick Smith to highlight Ireland’s connection with the hit TV show Vikings to fans around the world,” said Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland. “The fact that Vikings is filmed in Ireland’s Ancient East is truly a fantastic coup for Irish tourism. It presents Tourism Ireland with a superb opportunity to highlight the area to a large global audience and millions of fans. This new campaign will help to encourage visitors to explore Ireland’s Ancient East and Dublin for themselves, particularly in off-peak and shoulder seasons.”
