Marketing Society Seminar to Discuss How the State Influences the Nation

John Concannon

“Influencing the nation” and how the State engages with its citizens is the theme of the Marketing Society’s next breakfast seminar which takes place on Wednesday, November 5 in the offices of Core on Windmill Lane.

The speaker for the event is John Concannon, one of the architects of some of the most powerful marketing and cultural initiatives by the State in recent times. These range from the 2013 global event that was ‘The Gathering’, to being part of the creation of the already iconic ‘Wild Atlantic Way’, to leading the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme to commemorate 1916 and reflect on the last 100 years.

He was also the Director of Creative Ireland and Chairman of Gaisce – The President’s Award, and more recently was Director of Strategic Communications in the Dept of Taoiseach where he led a major project to streamline communications across Government. He was recently appointed to the role of Director General, Global Ireland, an ambitious programme to double Ireland’s impact in the world by 2025, including the challenge to help Ireland win a seat on the UN Security Council.

The event will kick off at 8am with breakfast and registration starting beforehand at 7.30am. Tickets for Members are €50 and for Non-members they are priced at €70.
