Ireland’s Favourite Curry Sauce Goes International in New Advertising Campaign for McDonnells

McDonnells Currys Sauce, Ireland’s favourite and a key ingredient in one of the nation’s most popular dishes says “Eat it for Dinner” as the “Chips Curry” story takes on an international feel in a new advertising campaign developed by award winning creative advertising agency Boys and Girls (www.boysandgirls.ie).

Formerly encountered wandering through the fields of Ireland in previous campaigns, in the new 30 second TV commercial airing from Monday, 19 June onwards, McDonnells advertising character Conor is now transposed to the glamourous continental setting of a large European mansion.

As the “Ambassador” for McDonnells Curry Sauce we see him hosting a black tie party for the international jet set where waiters bearing the standard array of canapes are dismissed in favour of those serving the taste sensation of Chips Curry which, as we all know, are perfectly cooked chips generously covered with distinctive McDonnells Curry sauce that’s ready in minutes.

In addition to TV, the new €1 million campaign will run across digital platforms over the next 18 months.

John Tolan, marketing director, McDonnells said: “There’s a light-hearted playfulness to our new advertising as we take the Chips Curry “phenomenon” international. However, as a brand, our sights are firmly fixed on the Irish market where we lead from the front with our much loved Curry Sauce”.

Pat Stephenson, partner and client service director, Boys and Girls said: ”McDonnells is a much loved brand and that affection is reflected in the new campaign which promotes McDonnells Curry Sauce as, quite rightly, an important part of our food culture of which we are quite rightly proud. ”
