Rothco has been shortlisted in five separate categories for this year’s One Show, the largest advertising awards programme in North America and the largest non-profit advertising awards programme in the world.

The Dublin-based agency has been shortlisted in the Social Media category for its recruitment drive for the Defence Forces which saw it bag a Cannes Lions in 2016. It has also been shortlisted twice in the Film category for its Ireland’s Ancient East Bed Time Stories campaign for Failte Ireland. Meanwhile in the Radio category, its campaign for Rentokil has been shortlisted twice.

Shortlisted entries advance to final judging, which will take place in March in Bermuda, and finalists will be announced in April. The overall winners will then be announced at The One Show on May 10/12 which takes place during Creative Week in New York. Irish Marketing Journal is one of the Media Partners of The One Show 2017 .

The One Show utilizes a quarterly entry system, offering four separate submission periods. This gives entrants the opportunity to submit work while it is first to market and top of mind. Our judges will view and judge the work on an ongoing basis by quarter, allowing them to view work in smaller batches and affording them more time to consider each piece.  So far, three deadlines for the 2017 One Show have passed (July, September and December 2016) with the fourth and final deadline set for January 27.

“The quarterly system has tremendous value for entrants,” said Kevin Swanepoel, CEO of The One Club for Creativity, the non-profit that produces The One Show and the ADC Annual Awards. “It ensures that the work is being judged while there is still a buzz about it. Judging in smaller batches also cuts down on judging fatigue. Additionally, it’s easier for agencies to submit work when media is immediately accessible, versus scrambling to find media assets months later, thereby simplifying the production of case study videos and the submission process as a whole.”

There were 202 shortlisted entries from 18 countries across nine disciplines: Branded Entertainment, Cross-Platform, Film, Interactive, Mobile, Radio, Responsive Environments, Social Media, and UX/UI.
