ESB Looks to the Future with New Campaign from Publicis Dublin

Publicis Dublin has created a new campaign for ESB called “For Future Us” to highlight the scale of the investment the company is making to deliver a clean energy future for Ireland.

The campaign is running across TV, outdoor, cinema and digital channels.

Produced by Piranha Bar,  with media managed by dentsu, the animated story centres on the story of 12-year-old Grace, who feels a little alone in her climate concerns, when she comes upon an unlikely solar-powered friend, Sol. Through their journey of discovery, the campaign reflects the sense of connection around sustainability and the intrinsic role Sol, and ESB plays in Ireland’s energy transition.

“ESB will be 100 years old in 1927. It is one of the best known, most trusted brands in Ireland,” said Lisa Browne, head of marketing, ESB.

“We understand consumers and stakeholders are concerned about the future. They are interested in knowing the changes that are being made to provide a secure, clean energy future. At the same time, we are cognisant of the level of communication messages presented to consumers every day and the difficulty in recalling messages. We are hoping that our new campaign will be distinctive, memorable and evoke an emotional connection with our ESB brand for consumers to continue to trust ESB to invest in innovative projects of scale for the future.”

Edel McCabe, business director, Publicis Dublin added: “We worked in collaboration with ESB to develop this new platform, building on ESB’s heritage and demonstrating ESB leadership when it comes to innovation and transformation of Ireland’s energy system.”

“As the lyrics say, ‘Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow’. This is what the new ESB platform is all about. So, when launching ‘For future us’, we wanted to create something that would not only resonate with our generation but reassure the next generation too,” said Peter Dobbyn, creative director, Publicis Dublin.

The film is set to a reimagined version of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Don’t Stop’, composed by Brian Crosby and performed by Dublin-based singer Lisa Lambe.
