GPA Launches New Campaign to Highlight People Not Players

The Connelly Partners, the Dublin and Boston-based creative agency, has launched a new campaign for the Gaelic Players Association  (GPA) called “You See Players. We See People.”

The aim of the campaign is to increase awareness of the GPA in the run up to four-team tournament, the Players Champions Cup, which will take place in Boston’s famous Fenway Park on November 18. The GPA supports the more than 2,100 players with programs covering all aspects of their off-field including; education scholarships, career mentoring, business start-up programs, counselling, addiction treatment, medical care and more.

“In our documentary-style series, we profiled the players dual lives on and off the field. We shot the moments other cameras weren’t focusing on that personified the pride and passion for what the sport means to the Irish and the players. Our campaign launched ahead of Dublin’s 2018 Super 11’s and the Players Championship Cup in Fenway Park, Boston. We built excitement for the events and bridged our connection to these two cities and players,” according to the agency.

All Ireland Champions Limerick will join last year’s Super 11s winners Clare along with Cork and Wexford in the tournament in Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Socks.

Cork and Wexford are also on the billing with the four sides going head-to-head for the Players Champions Cup at the home of the Boston Red Sox.

The campaign will run initially through GPA social and digital channels and was launched in Boston at an event MC’ed by Marty Morrissey who introduced Paul Flynn as the new CEO of the GPA and Aoife Lane CEO of WGPA.
