TV3 has recorded its highest ever viewership figures during May according to figures from TAM Ireland.

According to the figures TV3 Group recorded a 17.9% share of viewing, the highest ever monthly share in the group’s history.  Across the month, it recorded a higher share of viewing than RTÉ on ten days for adults under 45, and on two days TV3 Group share of viewing for all adults was also higher than that of RTÉ.

Commenting on the performance, TV3 Group Director of Programming Bill Malone said: “What a momentous month for TV3 Group. We’ve just enjoyed a record breaking week on top of a record breaking month which represents another significant milestone in the Group’s history. We’re only five months into our new three channel strategy, so it’s a tremendous result to see such significant growth and momentum across all channels. What’s even more encouraging is that much of that performance was driven by strong Irish content including 3News and Red Rock, which alongside premium Sport and exclusive international programming continues to deliver record audiences for TV3 Group. There is a lot more to come with plans well advanced for what is promising to be our biggest Autumn launch in TV3’s history.”

He points out that with audience growth of 53% in the month of May, this performance further consolidates TV3 Group channel positions as 3 of the 6 most watched channels in the country.

The TAM Ireland figures also show that flagship channel TV3 also achieved another milestone with its highest monthly share of viewing for 2017, delivering a 12.2% share for May. This performance represented a 41% increase in share of viewing for May 2017 versus May 2016 and further strengthens TV3’s position as the second largest channel in the country after RTÉ1.

3e, meanwhile,  grew its audience share by 8% from 2.6% to 2.8% and be3 recorded a 2.5% share of viewing in the month, consolidating its position as the sixth most watched channel in the country, ahead of TG4, BBC2 and Channel 4.

May was also a strong month for TV3’s on demand service, 3player, with streams up 177% in the month.
