IAPI has announced that the inaugural Cannes Grey Lions competition is now open for entries. The competition is open to people over 50 working in the wider advertising and media industries, including media and creative, agencies, design shops, brand consultants and media owners.

The competition sees IAPI teaming up with the organizers of the annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in a first-of-its kind competition that could be rolled out to other markets if it’s successful.

Sponsored by Standard Life, the winning team will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June 2020, including a full festival pass, flights from Dublin to Nice, accommodation as well as access to all the Cannes seminars, award ceremonies, showcases and material.

“It’s a great opportunity to prove the invaluable worth of experienced creatives to our industry. We miss you!” says Sean Hynes, Creative Director at Bonfire and IAPI Board member.

The first Cannes Grey Lions launch and briefing event will take place on Friday, September 27 in the Teeling Whiskey Distillery. Interested parties wishing to take part must register to enter and attend this event as a specially chosen charity will issue their brief.

Registered teams will then be tasked to create a campaign and pitch it to a panel of judges the following Monday. Judges will select a shortlist of who will go on to Round 2 where they will have to present to the panel on Monday, October 14. Following round 2, the winning team will be announced.

This judges for the Cannes Grey Lions are Charley Stoney, CEO of IAPI; Steven Mangan, Creative Director, Ringers; Sharon Smyth, Head of Marketing, Standard Life; Dean Ryan, Art Director, JWT Folk and Garret O’Beirne, Head of EMEA Partnerships, Facebook.
