Communicorp Rebrands and Launches New Digital Audio Streams

Communicorp, the radio group which is owned by businessman Denis O’Brien is to rebrand as Communicorp Media while it is also to launch three new online music streaming services – Today FM 80s, Today FM 90s and Today XM – as part of a bid to increase its online audience.

The new streaming services follow the recent launch of Spin Xtra, a spin-off from its youth station Spin 1038 and positions the group firmly in the nascent but growing digital audio market in Ireland where many believe will benefit from the additional inflow of advertising revenues over the next few years.

The addition of the three Today FM spin-off streaming services follows its launch earlier this month of Spin Xtra, a “non-stop fresh hits” offshoot of the group’s youth-targeting Spin 1038 station.

Apart from the new digital audio launches, Communicorp Media intends to boost the amount of video and podcasting content at Newstalk, including the introduction of podcast-only formats.
