Maximum Media Appoints Daragh Byrne as Group CEO

Daragh Byrne has been appointed as Group CEO of Maximum Media which includes both the Irish operations of Maximum Media and the UK operations which trades under the JOE Media name.

Byrne, a well-known figure in Irish advertising, joined Maximum Media as its chief commercial officer from UTV Ireland in January 2017, where he held the position of commercial director. Prior to that he held a number of senior positions in the Irish media industry, including a stint as group director of sales for TV3 Group.

In addition to Byrne’s appointment, Maximum Media has also appointed John Burns as its new managing director. Burns is a former CEO of the Communicorp-owned 98FM and before that he was head of content for the Guinness brand in Europe and worked for 12 years with  Diageo in various senior marketing and commercial roles in Europe, the USA and Africa.

Daragh Byrne replaces Katie Molony as Group CEO who leaves the group after four years.

According to Molony: “This has been a very tough decision, I am incredibly proud of my contribution to the business. Working with Niall McGarry and the brilliant teams across Ireland and the UK has been so rewarding. I have no doubt the business will continue to grow from strength to strength with the new management team in place”
