The chief executive of Independent News & Media, Vincent Crowley, is to step down from the job in May.
The departure of Crowley, who has been with the company since 1990, was not entirely unexpected and it follows a number of other high profile departures over the past year. It is understood that Crowley had been in negotiations with the board for a number of weeks and that both parties were in agreement that a new CEO should be appointed following its recent restructuring.
It is also understood that Leslie Buckley, the group’s chairman, will assume a much greater executive role in running of the group, pending the appointment of a replacement for Crowley.
