TV3 Secures Studio Partnership Deal with Sony

As part of its plans to develop more home-grown content, TV3 Group has inked a major technology partnership deal with Sony International which will provide the broadcaster with the latest high definition (HD) camera and support equipment for its new studio in Ballymount in Dublin.

As part of the multi-year deal, the studio will be named the "Sony HD Studio Dublin".  The new studio was completed in July 2012 and at 500 square metres is a state-of-the art purpose built facility, Ireland's biggest purpose-built TV studio. The design of the studio was based on best international practice by broadcasters such as the BBC and SKY. The studio completes the upgrading of TV3 Group's facilities following the installation of a HD transmission suite and infrastructure in 2010. TV3 Group has invested several million euros in the studio build, and the Sony agreement announced today is part of a multimillion euro deal.The Sony HD Studio, Dublin will be used by TV3 to enhance its current studio output.  It will also be used to produce and create a raft of new shows for the TV3 schedule as well as for the international market. The facility will also be available for independent producers in Ireland, and international broadcasters and producers. The studio will be operational before the end of the year.
