Ad of the Week: Three Mobile Knocks it Out of the Park with The Girl and the Cloud

With the Christmas ad campaign season now in full swing, Three Mobile Ireland has launched an endearing animated sequel to its successful “The Perfect Surprise” Christmas campaign last year.

Called “The Girl and the Cloud,” the campaign was created by Boys and Girls and it takes up the story of the young girl who got a snow cloud for her Christmas present and how their year together unfolded.

The animated sequel was directed by the award-winning director Phillip Hunt of Studio AKA in London while illustrators were commissioned to produce the imagery for the book which is available in Easons and all 3Stores. All proceeds from sales will go to Barnardos.

The 2’40” piece will run on RTÉ in the run-up to Christmas, and will be available to view, in full, online. The 60” cut down will also run on TV.

According to Elaine Carey, Chief Commercial Officer of Three; “We are delighted to launch this campaign and partnership with Barnardos.  The campaign really builds upon the emotive ‘perfect surprise’ narrative as we follow Anna and her cloud as their friendship grows through their shared adventures. With the focus on the gift of giving, we want to capture the essence of Christmas as it should be. One in nine children in Ireland now live in poverty and nearly two in five experience deprivation. Through sales of ‘The Girl and the Cloud’ book, Three hope to bring some Christmas magic into the lives of these children and their families this Christmas.”

Fergus Finlay, CEO of Barnardos adds; “At Barnardos we believe that every child deserves the same opportunities in life.  Every child we meet in our work is full of potential and every fundraising partner we work with brings us one step closer to helping children in difficulty reach their full potential.  Thanks to Three and this special book, we will be able to make Christmas a little brighter this year for many children and their families.”
