RTÉ Gets Ready for Record Viewership Figures for Ireland vs France Match

With the Republic of Ireland’s crunch match against France on Sunday set to draw record audiences, an average of 1.23m viewers watched this week’s Group E crunch clash between the Republic of Ireland and Italy on RTÉ2 as Robbie Brady’s headed effort ensured qualification to the Round of 16 and a glamour tie against hosts France in Lyon.

Additionally there were 101,500 live streams for the Republic of Ireland v Italy game on RTÉ Player, which includes 7,450 streams of the Irish Language commentary version. This makes Ireland v Italy the third biggest live game of UEFA EURO 2016 on RTÉ Player after Ireland v Sweden and England v Wales.

The day of the Ireland v Italy game delivered the highest peak of daily online traffic so far to RTÉ’s online Euro 2016 hub across RTÉ.ie and RTÉ News Now app, with over half a million page impressions (572,280) yesterday. The live tracker article of last night’s game had over 255,700 page impressions.

The Republic of Ireland’s Round of 16 tie with France on Sunday (KO 2.00pm) will be exclusively live on RTÉ2 television, streamed live on RTÉ Player and will have full live commentary on RTÉ Radio 1.
