Gervaise Slowey, CEO of Communicorp; Michelle Lee, Director of Marketing and Guest Experience at Aer Lingus; and Sharon Walsh, Marketing Director of Heineken Ireland addressed a full house in the Round Room of the Mansion House yesterday to discuss ‘Brand Building in a Connected World’ in an exclusive Marketing Society members only event sponsored by DMG Media Ireland.

One of the Marketing Society’s most successful events to date, the speaker line up attracted a 220 strong crowd of senior marketing professionals from all segments of the media from brand owners, to media owners, to the crème de la crème of the Dublin agency scene.

Doug Farrell, Group Head of Digital at DMG Media Ireland and sponsors of the event said:  “In this hyper connected world, brands must engage across multiple touch points at the times that matter most. Today’s event offered a unique insight into the challenges and opportunities facing leading Irish organisations. Given the great range of speakers and the impressive guest list, DMG Digital was delighted to be the first corporate sponsor of this inaugural Marketing Society members only event. We are looking forward to our continued involvement going forward.”

Michelle Lee, Aer Lingus, kicked off proceedings with a master class in how important it is to get the basics right and discussed the challenges of marketing ‘David and Goliath’ style against rival airline Ryanair.

Gervaise Slowey, Communicorp, shared insights from the boardroom on how to deliver business impact with marketing and the distinct need to “prove that it works” to protect and future proof the marketing budget.

Lastly, Sharon Walsh, from Heineken Ireland roused a rapturous applause as she shared the secrets from the powerhouse marketing team at Heineken Ireland that won marketing team of the year recently. She explained to delegates the importance taking a well-rounded view of marketing to ensure the seamless integration of online and offline activities and cautioned against digital being viewed as a silo.

Michael Clancy, Chair of the Marketing Society and MD of Mediavest, said: Today was a marque event in the Marketing Society’s calendar and looks certain to become an annual fixture. It was our first exclusive members-only event and we were delighted to secure DMG Ireland as our sponsor. The seminar was a phenomenal success, attracting a sell-out crowd. This was, in no small part, down to the calibre of speakers we had today – Michelle, Sharon and Gervaise are some of the most respected people in their fields.  They delivered an incredibly insightful seminar and a pure masterclass in how to deliver strategic marketing that delivers unquestionable business impact.”
