TV Advertising Spend Passes £5bn in the UK

shutterstock_189388379The UK TV market continues to grow with advertising investment hitting new levels according to Thinkbox, the marketing organisation for the TV industry in the UK.

According to Thinkbox, revenues from TV advertising rose 7.4% to £5.27bn in 2015, the sixth year in a row in which growth was recorded. Thinkbox also noted that online businesses advertising on TV formed the second biggest category during the year. Between them around £500m was spent on advertising during 2015. This included the likes of Facebook which is purported to have invested around £10.8m in TV advertising. Other online businesses, including Netflix and Google also took to TV to promote their businesses. In the case of Netflix, as much as 60% of its advertising budget was allocated to TV.
