Electric Media to Handle Waterford Whispers Advertising

Dermot Hanrahan RGBWaterford Whispers, the satirical website has signed a contract appointing The Electric Media Group to represent the site to advertisers. Launched in 2009 by Colm Williamson, the site has grown rapidly in popularity and now has a monthly reach of 1.3m unique users, a Facebook following of 385,000 and a Twitter following of 75,000.

The new partnership with Electric Media brings its advertising offering into Ireland’s largest digital ad sales roster, which includes The Irish Times, BBC, entertainment.ie, Balls.ie and DoneDeal.

According to Electric Media’s Dermot Hanrahan “We are delighted that Waterford Whispers have chosen Electric Media to optimise their commercial presence. Their site is unique and its profile is growing fast and will lend itself to a wide range of ad product types”. The WWN team, who just recently won the Best Website In Ireland at the Web Awards, along with Best Daily Web Only Publication, are looking forward to what this new venture will bring to the company.

“It’s been a great year for us and I’m chuffed to bits that everything is going so well and that Electric Media are joining us on this journey,” said Williamson, who is currently working on video content for the site. “We will start rolling out original video content from November and I’m really looking forward to it. Our second book is out too, so it’s a busy time for us.”
