Waterford-based independent production company Nemeton has appointed Gabrielle Cummins to the newly created role of head of media development.
Founded in 1993 by CEO Irial Mac Murchú, Nemeton is headquartered in An Rinn and employs 75 full- and part-time staff, along with a network of regular freelancers. The company produces more than 600 hours of television and digital content each year for clients including TG4, RTÉ, BBC and Sky Sports, and is best known for GAA Beo on TG4.
As the company’s first head of media development, Cummins will lead strategic initiatives to diversify Nemeton’s digital output and enhance its content across all digital platforms.
Cummins brings over two decades of media experience to the role. She was instrumental in launching Ireland’s first youth regional music station, Beat 102-103, serving as Head of News and Sport before becoming CEO and programme director for 17 years. Her career also includes roles as a journalist with WLR FM and as a local TV producer.
Commenting on the appointment, Mac Murchú said: “We’ve had ambitions for a long time to develop and commercialise our digital content internationally. This has never been as important as it is now in an era of great change and opportunity, not least in this new age of AI. Gabrielle’s experience will enable us to do just that and we are delighted to have her on board.”
Cummins said she was “thrilled” to be joining the award-winning company: “From the moment I set foot in the studios at Nemeton, I was impressed by the team’s authentic positive culture, the pride they have in producing great content, and their passion for innovation. At the heart of Nemeton’s output is great storytelling, and I’m excited to work with Irial and the team to create new opportunities in the industry.”
A native of Tipperary, Cummins has lived in Waterford since 1998 and will take up her new position in October 2025.
