The online social media site Facebook, which has its European HQ in Dublin, has reported that it has doubled the number of active users in the last year to 400m.
According to its founder Mark Zuckerberg, writing in his blog, the magic 400m figure will be achieved this week. This time last year Facebook had 175m active users. The company celebrates its sixth birthday this year.
The darling of the online sector, the company, has been winning kudos in advertising and marketing circles as more and more brands pile into Facebook in an attempt to engage with its users.
The company has also announced that it intends to make a number of changes to the site over the coming months including tweaks to how users interact with each other.
