SPAR is set to continue its longstanding partnership with Donal Skehan after agreeing a deal to sponsor RTE’s new Meals in Minutes Christmas Special as part of the convenience retail brand’s overall €300,000 Christmas marketing campaign.

SPAR’s wider Christmas campaign also includes its internationally renowned SPAR delivering Christmas TV advert and its #underthetree Twitter Tree campaign which aims to raise up to €20,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland this Christmas having also raised €20,000 for the National Children’s Hospital as part of the same initiative last year. The “SPAR delivering Christmas” ad was recognised as the number one Christmas commercial of all time by top American TV network CWTV in 2016. The timeless TV advert, which first aired in November 2012 to mark the 50th anniversary of the SPAR brand in Ireland, is a celebration of the Irish Christmas and aligns with the retail brand’s slogan “Under the Tree” as it features Christmas trees all over the country.

Hitting the air on Thursday 21st December at 7pm, the Meals in Minutes Christmas Special,  will see Skehan undertake the challenge of reducing the long process of prepping and making Christmas dinner. Viewership figures for his Meals in Minutes summer series peaked at more than 349,000 viewers and SPAR is anticipating a similarly high viewership for the Christmas special.

According to Colin Donnelly, SPAR Sales Director: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Donal once again for what we expect to be a fantastic show. He has a great likeability factor and has a knack for making delicious food look fun and effortless. The timing of the show will strongly complement the rest of our Christmas activity, particularly our popular TV advert, and we’ve no doubt that it will resonate strongly with our customers in the run up to the festive period.”
