RTÉ Launches New Mockumentary Online Prior to TV Broadcast

In an RTÉ first, the entire series of brand new mockumentary, The School will be available exclusively on RTÉ Player prior to broadcast on RTÉ2.

Viewers will have the opportunity to watch the complete box-set from today ( Friday November 17), six days in advance of episode one being shown on Thursday, 23rd November at 10.35pm on RTÉ2.

This is the first time that RTÉ has made a home-produced series available in its entirety on RTÉ Player prior to broadcast on television.

The School – Dominic MacHale as Mr. English; Laura O’Mahony as Briege Daly and Tadhg Hickey as Mr Hegarty

The School is a mockumentary from Cork based comedy group CCCahoots, the team behind the popular RTÉ Storyland series (R)onanism, and follows the trials of a brand-new school principal as he deals with a disruptive teacher and a school secretary with a crush on him while preparing for the annual Nativity play.

According to RTÉ’s head of online, Aoife Byrne: “Making a richer and more varied content offering available online and on demand is part of RTÉ’s strategy to better serve audiences. The School is an example of great Irish binge-worthy content that audiences can enjoy on RTÉ Player, with the ability to watch all the episodes on demand. This is all part of our strategy of moving beyond just catch-up and turning Player into an online TV destination in its own right.”
