Ad of the Week: Electric Ireland – You’re Smarter Than You Think

Electric Ireland has launched a new customer communications campaign called ‘You’re smarter than you think’ which demonstrates the many ways that Electric Ireland is the smarter choice for customers.

The lynchpin of the through the line campaign is a suite of four unique and entertaining TV ads that aim to reassure Electric Ireland customers that they are getting the best long term savings in the market.

The campaign will run across TV, radio and digital focusses on three different areas. Electric Ireland customers benefit from the best long term savings on gas and electricity every year. Customers can also avail of a rewards scheme that offers everything from a free cup of coffee to an amazing holiday prize and they have access to the best smarter homes devices allowing them to control their home’s energy output from their phone.

The campaign, which will be rolled out over the coming months, was devised by Dublin-based agency TBWA. The TV ads were produced by Dublin-based production company Speers Films and directed by Tom Merilion. Music is from Georges Bizet’s well-known opera ‘Carmen’ and adds an arresting dimension to the unusual creative. The shoot involved extremely challenging slow motion filming, four times slower than real time which saw six seconds of acting slowed down to 24 seconds in the finished piece.

According to Lisa Browne, head of marketing, Electric Ireland: “Our new customer communications campaign aims to reassure our customers that it’s a smarter choice to be with Electric Ireland, financially and for products, services and innovation. The situations shown as part of the campaign reflect scenarios in everyday life and what we want to communicate is that although we don’t have the answers for everything, Electric Ireland offers some of the solutions to the challenges that present themselves.”
