Media Awards 2017: The Results

Over 900 guests attended the annual Media Awards which were held in the Clayton Hotel last night, April 20.

Now in their seventh year, the Awards received a record number of entries this year and have become the highlight of the media calendar.

Many of Ireland’s top agencies and media brands picked up Gold awards on the night with the coveted Grand Prix going to ZenithOptimedia, Media Agency of the Year to Carat and Agency Network of the Year to Core Media. Elsewhere the Irish Farmers Journal picked up Media Brand of the Year while Journal Media won Sales Team of the Year. Genesis, meanwhile, won Media Agency of the Year (NI).

Amongst the other Gold winners on the night were Dublin’s 98FM & Media Central in the Best Regional Media Initiative; Starcom in the Best Use of Media; Mediaworks which won two golds for Lidl and KBC Bank; Mediavest & RTÉ in the Best Collaboration Between Agency and Media Owner (Broadcast) and iProspect/Carat in the Best Use of Data/Analytics. Mediavest also picked up a Gold in the Best Use of Sponsorship/Product Placement Category.

Fellow Core Media stablemate, ZenithOptimedia, meanwhile, was the biggest winner on the night, bagging five Gold, one Silver and two Bronze awards. One of the Golds was in the Best Collaboration between Media Owner and Agency (OOH) alongside RTÉ, PML and INM Sales.

Other agencies to win Golds on the night included OMD, ICAN/TG4 and Havas Media in the Best Use of Search category for its work with Hyundai.

Elsewhere, the Irish Times won Gold in the Best Sales Initiative for its Irish Times Content Studio while Independent News & Media picked up two Golds in the Best Research category and in the Best Creative Direction/Execution by a Media Owner, together with MEC, for client Yoplait. OMD and The Irish Star, meanwhile, won Gold in the Best Collaboration between Media Owner & Agency (Print) category.
