McPartlin Steps Down as CEO of Today FM

Peter McPartlin

Peter McPartlin is stepping down as CEO of the Communicorp-owned Today FM and TXFM stations after four years at the helm.

McPartlin joined Today FM from Carat in March 2012 and has a long track record in the advertising industry, including stints at Irish International and Dimension Marketing.

“I have been hugely committed to the success of Today FM over the course of my time here, as well as putting the future of TXFM, on a sound footing, so this is not a decision that I made lightly. I think there has rarely been a more exciting time to be working in media, music and technology, especially as these three worlds collide. I now want to devote time to explore new opportunities, both from a personal and career point of view, while I have the freedom to do so,” says McPartlin.

According to Gervaise Slowey, Group CEO of Communicorp: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter for his leadership of Today FM over the past four years. He has overseen many important changes to the station including bringing in exceptional new talent to Today FM in the form of Anton Savage, Dermot and Dave, Louise Duffy, Paula MacSweeney, Kelly-Anne Byrne, Fergal D’Arcy and Neil Delamere. These new shows are building on the enduring strength of both The Ian Dempsey Show and The Last Word with Matt Cooper. In addition Peter has grown our digital audiences and has been instrumental in the launch of Communicorp One, our joint sales team with Newstalk, and the launch of TXFM. Peter leaves behind a strong team well positioned for growth and to bring both Today FM and TXFM to the next stage.”
