Farrell and Byrne Get IAB Sales Certification

Associate’s Doug Farrell, head of digital and Karl Byrne, head of sales at Associated Newspapers have received the IAB’s Digital Sales Certification.

Both Farrell and Byrne received their certification following an IAB exam in Dublin last week. The certification represents the highest industry credential for digital media sales professionals.

Eligibility for the certification is based on a minimum of two years’ work experience in digital media sales which is defined broadly as the selling of digital media inventory but can also include the selling of services that enable agencies and marketers to optimise the planning and buying of digital audiences.

In 2012, IAB gathered leaders in digital advertising in the US to create the Digital Media Sales Certification. The programme provides an industry benchmark that will easily differentiate those professionals who are truly educated in selling digital media. The certification programme has now been updated to facilitate a global rollout in 2014.

Recognising the fast moving nature of digital media IAB Ireland has introduced the Digital Media Sales Certification to facilitate the adoption of best practice among IAB members.

Commenting on the exam process, Doug Farrell says “At Associated we pride ourselves on being digital first – this certification is important for us as it provides a standard qualification that encourages best practice within the digital Market”.

IAB Digital Sales Certification Donna O’Connor, IAB’s Training Manager said “The global standard of IAB’s Digital Sales Certification is a great benchmark for the Irish digital advertising industry. Achieving IAB certification is the highest industry credential for digital media sales professionals and the Irish market has responded very positively to the IAB rollout of this qualification. The next opportunity to certify is February 2014”.
